| | | | | | | | RECOMMENDATION
Take the following actions for the Resource Management Expansion Project: (1) Award to the low bidder, Walker Construction Company, on a lump sum basis, the contract for the Resource Management Expansion Project, Contract No. 610448, in the amount of $86,548; (2) approve a Fiscal Year (FY) 2016-17 Land, Buildings & Improvement budget amendment increasing appropriations and revenue by $210,000; and (3) approve a FY 2016-17 Resource Management budget amendment increasing appropriations by $233,980 offset by use of unassigned fund balance. |

It is recommended that the Board award to the low bidder, Walker Construction Company and approve budget amendments to complete the Resource Management Expansion Project. |
| | | | | | | | DISCUSSION
The Department of Resource Management needs additional office space to accommodate staff. On March 14, 2017, the Board approved plans and specifications and initiated bidding to remodel and expand the 2nd floor offices of Resource Management by 340-square feet, reducing the administrative office space of the Department of Public Works, at 1855 Placer Street. On April 20, 2017, three bids were received. The low bidder was Walker Construction Company. Budget amendments are recommended to increase appropriations and revenue in the LB&I budget unit and increase appropriations in the Resource Management budget unit. |

The Board may decline to award to the low bidder. The Board may elect to rebid the project or decline to proceed with the project at this time. |
| | | | | | | | OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT
Resource Management’s office staff has been involved throughout the project. County Counsel has approved the contract documents as to form. Risk Management has reviewed and approved the contract documents. The Auditor-Controller has reviewed this budget amendment request. The County Administrative Office has reviewed this recommendation. |

The total cost of this project is estimated to be $206,600. Adequate resources are included in the Adopted Fiscal Year 2016/17 Resource Management budget for the proposed appropriations. There is General Fund impact. |
