| | | | | | | | RECOMMENDATION
Approve and authorize the Chairman to sign a retroactive amendment, effective the date of signing, to the agreement with Dan Purtzer, M. D. to increase the maximum compensation for the entire term of the agreement from $125,000 to $150,000 for the provision of autopsy services through May 22, 2018. |
| | | | | | | | DISCUSSION
On May 23, 2013, the County Executive Officer signed an agreement with Dan Purtzer, M.D., for the purpose of providing autopsy services to the Sheriff’s Office. The Board approved the First Amendment, effective October 30, 2014, which increased the maximum compensation by $100,000 to $125,000 and extended the term of the agreement to May 22, 2018. The recommended Second Amendment with Dr. Purtzer will increase total compensation by $25,000 for a new total of $150,000 and will retroactively cover services back to July 31, 2016. This amendment is retroactive due to an increased need for additional autopsy services and an inadvertent oversight in the amount of compensation already paid to Dr. Purtzer. The Sheriff’s Office has a forensic pathologist on staff; however, there is a continued need for contract autopsy services to cover during vacations and/or extended absences or to assist in the event of a mass casualty event. |
