SUBJECT:

Resolution of the Board of Supervisors of the County of Shasta supporting the administration of the County Employee Appreciation events.

RECOMMENDATION

Adopt a resolution which: (1) Authorizes the Department of Support Services to make non-customary and/or normal expenditures and sign claims including but not limited to: venue rental, food, promotional items, (e.g., incentive and opportunity drawings prizes and supplies), and required advance payment to vendors for Employee Appreciation events; (2) repeals Resolution No. 2013-048; and (3) authorizes the Department of Support Services to receive donations in compliance with Administrative Policy 2-401, Acceptance of Donations.

DISCUSSION

Shasta County is fortunate to have exceptional employees who deserve appreciation for their dedication, integrity, and contributions to maintaining the highest quality of County service. Each year Shasta County Department of Support Services celebrates our appreciation of all Shasta County employees with an Employee Appreciation Day event. Adoption of this resolution will allow the planning, management and implementation of the Employee Appreciation Day event be administered in the most cost effective and time efficient manner.  Further, the repeal of Resolution 2013-048 is recommended in order to update the processes required to implement the Employee Appreciation Day. 

ALTERNATIVES

The Board may choose not to adopt the Resolution and/or repeal Resolution 2013-048.  This is not recommended as recommended Resolution and repeal of Resolution 2013-048 will align the administration of the Employee Appreciation Day events with current practices and requirements.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT

The County Administrative Office and the Director of Support Services have reviewed and support the recommendation.

FINANCING

All expenses incurred by Shasta County will be budgeted by the Department of Support Services.  There is no additional impact to the County General Fund with approval of the recommendation.
