The City of Redding has been awarded two grants through the Building Forward Grant Program. These grants are for infrastructure improvements at the Anderson Library and Burney Library locations and amount to $439,949 and $453,109, respectively. The County owns the real property where the libraries are located. The City operates the libraries. The respective permits to “Enter and Construct” provide the City with the permission from the County needed to perform the grant-funded work. The grant award for each location is to be spent on the following improvements:
1. UV filter for HVAC
2. Generator
3. Roof
4. Security Cameras
5. Solar
The grant applications requested a 100% reduction in the required cash match amounts, which was also approved for each grant. Therefore, the required matching amount to support these projects is $0.
Public Works will participate in reviewing the plans and specifications for these projects and will be required to provide their approval for the construction. This will also ensure that ADA and Building Codes are complied with and that the City of Reding will follow Public Contract Code, Prevailing Wage and DIR registration.
Upon completion of project installation and construction, the improvements will be County of Shasta property and are to be maintained, repaired, and operated as such by the County. Additionally, all warranties will be transferred to the County. The permission from the Permits to Enter and Construct is granted in consideration of the benefits which may accrue to the property. This permission shall terminate upon completion of the Building Forward, Library Infrastructure Grant.
