Adopt a proclamation which designates April 2023, as “Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month” in Shasta County. |
| | | | | | | | DISCUSSION
The Health and Human Services Agency, Behavioral Health and Social Services Branch requests the Board adopt a proclamation declaring April 2023 as “Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month” in Shasta County to encourage the prevention of child abuse and neglect and to build healthy, safe, hopeful, nurturing families and communities.
Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month is an annual observance in the United States dedicated to raising awareness and preventing child abuse. April has been designated Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month in the United States since 1983. Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month is dedicated to giving every child a chance to succeed and grow up in a safe, stable, and nurturing environment that is free from abuse and neglect.

The recommendation has been reviewed by the County Administrative Office. Pathways to Hope for Children is the chief sponsor of Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month in Shasta County and supports this recommendation. |

Appropriations and revenues associated with the activities surrounding Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month were included in the department’s 2022-23 Adopted Budget.
