| | | | | | | | RECOMMENDATION
Adopt a resolution which repeals Resolution 2022-101 and approves and authorizes a revised distribution of Dixie Fire Settlement Funds from the North State District Attorneys' legal action against Pacific Gas & Electric. |
| | | | | | | | DISCUSSION
On August 30, 2022, the Board approved Resolution 2022-101 which approved and authorized the distribution of the North State District Attorneys Settlement funds from PG&E related to the Dixie Fire. The proposal included the $1,600,000 settlement from PG&E be distributed among 35 Shasta County fire stations served by volunteer firefighters, totaling $45, 714.28 to each station with the remaining $0.20 allocated to CSA 1.
Since the approval of Resolution 2022-101, Shasta County Fire was informed that one of the stations listed in the distribution of settlement funds is no longer served by volunteers; therefore, it is recommended to re-allocate the PG&E settlement among 34 Shasta County fire stations served by volunteer firefighters totaling $47,058.82 to each station with the remaining $0.12 allocated to CSA 1. |
| | | | | | | | ALTERNATIVES
The Board may chose not to approve the resolution, provide an alternate distribution of the settlement funds or request additional information from staff. |
| | | | | | | | OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT
The Shasta County District Attorney participated in the civil complaint, settlement, and designated the Shasta County Fire Department to receive monetary relief pursuant to the Stipulated Judgment. County Counsel has reviewed and approved the resolution as to form. The County Administrative Office has reviewed the recommendation. |
| | | | | | | | FISCAL IMPACT
There is no General Fund impact associated with the proposed resolution. The proposed division of the settlement funds allocates the sum of $47,058.82 to each of the 34 Shasta County fire stations served by volunteer firefighters. |
