RECOMMENDATION

Adopt a resolution which approves the temporary partial closure of Deschutes Road in the Palo Cedro area for the purpose of holding the annual Palo Cedro Christmas Festival.

SUMMARY

An annual Christmas event is proposed along Deschutes Road in Palo Cedro.

DISCUSSION

On December 9, 2016, the Palo Cedro Chamber of Commerce will host the annual Palo Cedro Christmas Festival. The event will include a Christmas tree lighting ceremony, live music, children’s activities, tractor-train rides and vendors. Activities are proposed along both sides of Deschutes Road from Cedro Lane to Old Forty Four Drive.  Temporary closure of Deschutes Road is proposed from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Through traffic will detour via Cedro Lane.

ALTERNATIVES

The Board may decline to allow closure of Deschutes Road. Event activities and/or participant safety may be impaired.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT

County Counsel has approved the resolution as to form. The County Administrative Office has reviewed this recommendation.

FINANCING

Adequate funds to prepare the proposed resolution were included in the Adopted 2016/17 Road fund budget. There is no General Fund impact.
