| | | | | | | | RECOMMENDATION
Approve and authorize the Public Works Director to sign a Notice of Completion for the Shasta County Jail HVAC Controls Modernization Project, Contract No. 610413, and record it within 15 days of actual completion of the work. |
| | | | | | | | SUMMARY
The Jail HVAC controls have been upgraded to an electronic system. |
| | | | | | | | DISCUSSION
The Jail has a centralized HVAC system. Conditioned air is routed through the building with a network of dampers to control the flow. The old system used a network of pneumatic tubes to actuate the dampers. That old hardware had worn out and was prone to leaks. On March 15, 2016, the Board awarded the Jail HVAC Controls Modernization Project to Shasta Controls Company. A Direct Digital Control system has been installed. A computer monitors the system and controls the dampers through wires and electronic actuators. It is a simpler and more reliable system. |
| | | | | | | | ALTERNATIVES
The Board may decline to file a Notice of Completion. The lien period would extend for 90 days instead of 30 days. Final payment to the contractor would be delayed by 60 days. |
| | | | | | | | OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT
The recommendation has been reviewed by the County Administrative Office. |
| | | | | | | | FINANCING
The total cost of this project, including design, construction, inspection and contingencies, is estimated to be $900,000. Adequate funds have been included in the Adopted 2016/17 LB&I budget. There is no additional General Fund impact. |
