RECOMMENDATION

Adopt a resolution which certifies that the County maintains 1,178.192 miles of road.

DISCUSSION

County roads are maintained with gas tax revenues. The County is required to certify the maintained mileage annually (Streets and Highways Code Section 2121). Changes result from annexations, abandonments, corrections, etc. The mileage is unchanged from the prior year. It is recommended that the Board adopt a resolution certifying the mileage maintained by the County to be 1,178.192 miles.

ALTERNATIVES

The Board may decline to certify the mileage. Gas tax revenues may be jeopardized. The Board may elect to add or delete roads. Procedural steps would be entailed. Costs and other liabilities may be incurred.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT

County Counsel has approved the resolution as to form. The Recommendation has been reviewed by the County Administrative Office.

FISCAL IMPACT

The Adopted Fiscal Year 2019-20 Roads Fund budget includes funds for this activity.
