DISCUSSION
The Court began licensing a portion of the property located at 2600 Park Marina Drive, Redding, California, on July 10, 2015, due to the breakdown of the HVAC in the Collections Unit’s space of the Courthouse. Due to the pending construction of the new Redding Courthouse, the Court finds it necessary to continue occupancy of the premises.
On June 19, 2018, the Board adopted Resolution No. 2018-044 , which found that licensing to the Court a portion of the property located at 2600 Park Marina Drive, Redding, California, is in the public interest; and found that conveyance of the license to the Court will not substantially conflict or interfere with the County’s use of the property; and ratified the County Executive Officer’s execution of a license agreement with the Court to pay County $6,691.20 per month for approximately 4,920 square feet of office space ($1.36/square foot) at 2600 Park Marina Drive, Redding, California for the period July 1, 2018, through June 30, 2019, with a 2 percent annual increase through June 30, 2021. The current license at $1.36/square foot included costs for maintenance of structure, household supplies, and utilities.
With the proposed License Agreement, the County reduces the monthly lease cost to $5,852.80 ($1.19/square foot, in line with the Building lease) with a 2 percent annual increase should the Court extend the license on a month-to-month basis after June 30, 2021. Maintenance of structure, janitorial/household supplies, infrastructure charges; and utilities are not included in the cost per square foot and will be billed directly to the courts on a monthly basis.
