| | | | | | | | RECOMMENDATION
Approve and authorize the Chairman to sign a retroactive renewal agreement with STERIS Corporation in an amount not to exceed $32,366.25 (including annual advance payments in the amount of $8,988.75) to provide preventative maintenance for an Electric Gravity Sterilizer for the period January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2020.
|
| | | | | | | | DISCUSSION
Approval of this agreement will allow the County to renew the Electric Gravity Sterilizer preventive maintenance agreement with Steris Corporation. The Electric Gravity Sterilizer is used to sterilize laboratory tools and reagents for use in diagnostic testing and to decontaminate biohazard waste produced in the laboratory. The Electric Gravity Sterilizer was originally purchased from Steris, and Steris is a sole source vendor for the Electric Gravity Sterilizer. Renewing this agreement will allow Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) Public Health better control over their maintenance costs. Preventive maintenance is also necessary to ensure the safety and effectiveness of this equipment. The annual advance payments required by Steris are an industry standard requirement for preventive maintenance agreements. This vendor has performed satisfactorily in the past. This agreement is retroactive due to unexpected delays in contract negotiations with the vendor.
|
| | | | | | | | ALTERNATIVES
Alternatives include not approving the agreement or amending the terms of the agreement. |
| | | | | | | | OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT
County Counsel has approved the agreement as to form. Risk Management has reviewed and approved the agreement. The recommendation has been reviewed by the County Administrative Office.
|
| | | | | | | | FINANCING
The advance payments total $26,966.25. The remaining amount, if used, is paid after services are provided to the County, if needed. HHSA’s Fiscal Year 2017-2018 Adopted Budget includes sufficient appropriation authority for the activities described in this agreement. Funding to support the cost in subsequent years will be included in the respective years’ budget requests. There is no additional General Fund impact with approval of the recommendation.
