DISCUSSION

On December 12, 2017, the Board approved an agreement with Aaron Williams, a sole proprietorship, to administrate a group of subcontract attorneys to provide conflict indigent defense services for Shasta County.  Mr. Williams has applied for and received corporation status as “The Law Office of Aaron Williams, Inc.”  The corporation is also registered with the California Secretary of State.  Approval of the amendment will allow processing of any payments to Mr. Williams under his corporate status and new tax identification number.  The amendment is retroactive in order for the effective date to match the effective date of the agreement, which is January 1, 2018.

ALTERNATIVES

The Board could choose not to approve the amendment.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT

County Counsel reviewed the amendment as to form.

FINANCING

The amendment does not modify funding requirements for the agreement.  There is no additional General Fund impact.
