Salary Resolution amending the Shasta County Salary Schedule for classifications in County service.

RECOMMENDATION

Adopt a salary resolution which increases the salary for the Auditor-Controller, County Clerk, and District Attorney job classifications in County service.

DISCUSSION

It is recommended that the Board adopt a salary resolution which increases the salary of the following classifications: Auditor-Controller, County Clerk, and District Attorney. The three classifications are elected department head positions. A salary increase is recommended for equity purposes as these elected department heads were not eligible to receive a longevity stipend during their current terms of office and the longevity stipend has been removed for elected department heads as of January, 2019.

The recommended salary resolution specifies salary increases as follows: (1) Effective the pay period beginning December 24, 2017, specified classification salaries will be increased by three percent (3%); and (2) Effective the pay period beginning July 8, 2018, specified classification salaries will be increased by two percent (2%). The total salary increase recommended is five percent (5%).

ALTERNATIVES

The Board may choose to not adopt the salary resolution.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT

This recommendation has been reviewed by County Counsel and the County Executive Officer.

FINANCING

The impacted departments will budget the expense in their respective budgets.
