A Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) has been developed and is proposed for adoption.
DISCUSSIONIn 2006, Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast. Subsequent legislation required local agencies to prepare Hazard Mitigation Plans (HMPs) and to update them every five years. Disaster recovery funding may be withheld from noncompliant agencies. In 2012, the County and the City of Anderson prepared an HMP. An update has been prepared and accepted by the State Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
