Accept a cash donation from the American Legion Auxiliary Post 197 in the amount of $3,000 for a portion of the cost to refinish the main floor of the Redding Memorial Veterans Hall. |
| | | | | | | | SUMMARY
American Legion Auxiliary Post 197 has offered to donate $3,000 to refinish the Redding Memorial Veterans Hall floor. |
| | | | | | | | DISCUSSION
The Redding Memorial Veterans Hall serves veterans groups and is available to rent. Heavy foot traffic takes a toll on the wood floor in the main assembly hall. It was last refinished five years ago. American Legion Auxiliary Post 197 has offered to donate $3,000 to refinish the main floor. The total cost is estimated to be $8,000. The County Veterans Halls budget contains sufficient funds to cover the balance of the cost. The main assembly hall would be closed from December 17, 2017 thru Jan 2, 2018, to complete the work. No conflicting events have been scheduled. |
| | | | | | | | ALTERNATIVES
The Board may decline to accept the proposed $3,000 donation from American Legion Auxiliary Post 197. The refinishing project may eventually be completed entirely through the General Fund. |
| | | | | | | | OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT
The recommendation has been reviewed by the County Administrative Office. |
| | | | | | | | FINANCING
An estimated cost of $8,000 would be incurred to resurface the main floor. American Legion Auxiliary Post 197 has offered to donate $3,000 towards the project. The Adopted FY 2017-18 Veterans Halls budget contains sufficient resources to fund the balance of the project. There is no additional General Fund impact. |
