The Shasta County Well Standards Advisory Board was created pursuant to Shasta County Ordinance No. 479, "An Ordinance to Regulate the Construction, Repair, Reconstruction or Abandonment of Wells Within the Unincorporated Area of the County of Shasta and Incorporating by Reference Portions of Chapter 2 of Bulletin No. 74 of the California Department of Water Resources, “Water Well Standards” adopted by the Board of Supervisors on June 30, 1969.
There are three vacancies on the Well Standards Advisory Board (WSAB) for the Board of Supervisor's consideration. This advisory board hears appeals of any person aggrieved by refusal of a well water permit or the terms of a well water permit.
Pursuant to Ordinance No. 479, Section III.F., the WSAB consists of three members appointed directly by the Board of Supervisors. The WSAB members serve two-year terms to January of each odd numbered year. The matter of WSAB member’s qualifications is solely within the discretion of the Board of Supervisors. The WSAB members serve voluntarily and receive no compensation for their service.
The Notice of Vacancy was posted pursuant to Government Code section 54974 for 15 days in three prominent public places and the Notice of Vacancy is on file with the Clerk of the Board. Ted Ogilvie owns and operates Diamond Core Drilling, Inc. in Redding and has worked with the Resource Management Department for many years. It is recommended the Board appoint Ted Ogilvie and reappoint both Steve Foster and Bryan Gartner. All three gentlemen meet the membership requirements.
