RECOMMENDATION

Introduce and waive the reading of an ordinance of the Board of Supervisors of the County of Shasta amending Chapter 1.12 of the Shasta County Code Concerning Administrative Enforcement.

DISCUSSION

Ordinance No. SCC 97-5 was adopted on November 12, 1997. That ordinance amended portions of the Shasta County Code concerning code enforcement. Section 1.12.050 Civil penalty and administrative fines, subsection 6, contains a typographical error in that the 1997 ordinance referred to “procedures set forth in Government Code section 28845...” There is no such section. The section should have referenced Government Code section 25845.

This typographical error needs to be corrected and the purpose of this 2017 amendment is to simply correct that typographical error. We need to correct the reference to support requests for nuisance abatement fees, fines and penalties.

ALTERNATIVES

There are no practical alternatives as the correction is necessary for the accuracy of the County Code.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT

County Counsel has approved the ordinance as to form. The County Administrative Office has reviewed the recommendation.

FINANCING

There is no General Fund impact from the recommended action.
