Award to the low bidder, American Civil Constructors West Coast, Inc., on a unit cost basis, the contract for the “Bridge Preventive Maintenance Project,” Contract No. 705936, in the amount of $198,197. |

The County is preparing to begin construction on the Bridge Preventive Maintenance Project. On June 27, 2017, the Board approved the plans and specifications for the project. On July 27, 2017, two bids were received and opened. The low bid was 35% higher than the Engineer’s Estimate. Additional federal funding has been requested. |

The Board may decline to proceed with the project at this time. Corrosion will continue. |

Caltrans oversees the project funding. County Counsel has approved the contract documents as to form only. Risk Management has reviewed and approved the contract documents. The County Administrative Office has reviewed this recommendation. |

The total cost of this project is estimated to be $287,486. Federal funds will cover 88.53% ($254,511). The County’s share will be 11.47% ($32,975). Adequate funds are included in the Adopted FY 2017/2018 Road Fund budget. There is no General Fund impact. |
