SUMMARY

The Shasta County Employee Recognition Committee meets on a regular basis to screen nominees for the Employee of the Month Program. After reviewing nominations, the Employee Recognition Committee is recommending for Board recognition and approval, the Employee of the Month for August 2017.

DISCUSSION

Shasta County is fortunate to have many exemplary employees. On a daily basis, their dedication, integrity, creativity, and professionalism are called upon to maintain the high quality of local public services enjoyed by the citizens of Shasta County. Their jobs are becoming more challenging as public expectations of service and demands for increased efficiency escalate. In this environment, it is important that we recognize those employees who set the standard of excellence and dedication for the entire organization. Their contribution deserves the thanks and appreciation of the entire County family and the citizens of the community.

In this spirit, the Board is being asked to recognize the Employee of the Month, who has been nominated by the Employee Recognition Committee.  This nomination is based on a review of all nominations using the selection criteria provided for in the Employee Recognition Policy. It is the recommendation of the Employee Recognition Committee that Lisa Allen, Supervising Accountant, Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA), Business and Support Services Department, be recognized as the August 2017 Employee of the Month.

Ms. Allen has been able to expand the professional relationship with the Auditor-Controller's department in assisting the Business and Support Services Department in their day-to-day operations. She is the point of contact for any issues that arise with regards to accounts payable and can be counted on to clear up any issue quickly and competently. Ms. Allen has been instrumental with improving the day-to-day operations of HHSA accounts payable, and continuing to build the relationship between HHSA and the Auditor's office has been instrumental in creating a productive work environment.

Ms. Allen has a standing item on her regular staff meetings where staff can share computer shortcuts. These small shortcuts allow staff to save time and create an environment where innovation is valued. She also reviewed internal HHSA Accounts Payable and Purchasing processes to ensure these processes were providing timely payments to Vendors.

Because of a recent promotion, Ms. Allen has taken on the supervision of the accounts payable division. She is always more than willing to help out where ever she is needed. With her expertise, she assisted the accounts payable staff with the resolution of many outstanding items and has developed a great rapport with staff.

Ms. Allen is an excellent role model for employees, dependable, and a great resource for other employees. HHSA, Business and Support Department is fortunate to have her. She is an amazing example of an exemplary public employee.
