RECOMMENDATION

Approve and authorize the Chairman to sign the proposed responses to the Fiscal Year 2016-17 Shasta County Grand Jury Reports entitled: (1) "Shasta County Sheriff's Office-Animal Regulation Unit"; (2) "GPS Ankle Bracelet Monitoring and Law Enforcement"; and (3) "Responses to the 2015-16 Shasta County Grand Jury."

DISCUSSION

On June 26, 2017, the FY 2016-2017 Shasta County Grand Jury released the reports entitled, "Shasta County Sheriff's Office - Animal Regulation Unit," "GPS Ankle Bracelet Monitoring and Law Enforcement," and "Responses to the 2015/16 Shasta County Grand Jury."  A copy of those reports are attached. 

The Grand Jury Reports contain findings and recommendations requiring responses from the Board of Supervisors.  Attached are the proposed responses to these reports for the Board's consideration.

ALTERNATIVES

The Board may determine to revise the proposed responses.  There is a legal requirement to respond within 90 days of receipt of the Final Report.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT

The proposed responses to the findings and recommendations were drafted by the County Executive Officer for the Board's approval and signature and were reviewed by County Counsel.

FINANCING

There is no direct financial impact in adopting the proposed response; however, implementing some of the recommendations may have an as yet determined cost.
