| | | | | | | | RECOMMENDATION
Approve the establishment of an imprest cash account in the amount of $65,000 for the Public Administrator. |
| | | | | | | | DISCUSSION
The Public Administrator protects the assets of a decedent by taking immediate charge of property when someone has died. In order to perform this function, the Public Administrator must act quickly to prevent waste, loss and theft to the property or assets belonging to decedent. This process includes traveling to property, secure dwellings as well as enforce code regarding public health related issues. Giving the Public Administrator access directly to an imprest cash account will ensure prompt action in order to safeguard assets of our residences.
|
| | | | | | | | ALTERNATIVES
The alternative would be not to issue an imprest account however, the Public Administrator will experience delays to safeguard decedent’s assets.
|
| | | | | | | | OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT
The Auditor-Controller concurs with and supports the Public Administrator gaining access to an imprest cash account of $65,000.
|
| | | | | | | | FINANCING
The Public Administrator is a General Fund department.
