Approve a budget amendment increasing appropriations by $6,000 in the Farm Advisor JT Lassen Shasta budget to be offset with Contingency General Fund to allow for termination pay. |
| | | | | | | | DISCUSSION
The McArthur Farm Advisor office must close effective June 30, 2017 as UC Davis is not recruiting for the vacant professional staff member position. The part-time clerical position associated with this cost center will be deleted in the FY 17-18 Recommended Budget process. Because the part-time position is currently filled, there will be a final "payout" to that employee. This budget is small so the payout cannot be absorbed by the budget which did not include the unanticipated payout. |

The County Administrative Office reviewed the recommendation. The Farm Advisor worked with the County Chief Financial Officer to prepare the recommendation. |

When the FY 16-17 budget was adopted, the status of the McArthur office was not known, so no termination pay was included in the FY 16-17 budget. The final payout is a General Fund contingency obligation, with 40% of the payout to be reimbursed to County of Shasta by County of Lassen in the following fiscal year. |
