| | | | | | | | RECOMMENDATION
Introduce, waive the reading of, and enact an ordinance which sets fees to be charged by the Clerk of the Board that: (1) Repeals Ordinance No. 584; and (2) adopts a revised fee schedule for the Clerk of the Board. |
| | | | | | | | DISCUSSION
The Clerk of the Board's (COB) fees have not been updated since October 11, 1994. Several of the fees are obsolete, out-dated, and in need of an update due to technological advances. The COB rarely has the need to charge for services and most of the fees the COB does charge for are to provides copies of the Board's records or recordings of meetings. Many of those records and recordings are now available online. However, if the public asks the COB to provide these records or recordings, even after being directed to the County's Internet, then the COB must provide them pursuant to the Public Records Act. And so, an update to the fees is recommended. The proposed fee change was advertised in the Record Searchlight pursuant to Government Code section 6062(a). |
| | | | | | | | ALTERNATIVES
The Board could choose not to adopt the ordinance, could defer consideration to a future date, or could direct further study and/or changes to the COB's fee ordinance which would be brought back to the Board at a later date. |
| | | | | | | | OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT
County Counsel has approved the Ordinance as to form. |
| | | | | | | | FINANCING
Several fees are deleted or reduced and this may impact the COB's budget revenue; however, if so, it would be insignificant in regards to the County's overall General Fund budget. There is no additional General Fund impact associated with approval of the recommendation. |
