RECOMMENDATION

Take the following actions regarding the “Corporation Yard Roofing Project,” Contract No. 701603: (1) Find the project categorically exempt in conformance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Section 15301, Class 1–Existing Facilities; (2) approve plans and specifications and direct the Public Works Director to advertise for bids; and (3) authorize opening of bids on or after Thursday, July 6, 2017, at 11:00 a.m.

SUMMARY

This project will re-roof part of the road maintenance Shop Building on Breslauer.

DISCUSSION

Road maintenance crews operate out of our corporation yard on Breslauer.  The facility was constructed in 1963.  Heavy equipment is maintained in the Shop Building.  A portion of the metal roof leaks.  A new PVC membrane roofing system is proposed to cover 6164 square feet of the roof.

ALTERNATIVES

The Board may decline to advertise for bids at this time. Leaks would continue.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT

County Counsel has approved the contract documents as to form. Risk Management has reviewed and approved the contract documents. The recommendation has been reviewed by the County Administrative Office.

FINANCING

The total cost of the Corporation Yard Roofing Project is estimated to be $138,000. Adequate funds are budgeted in the Proposed LB&I budget for FY 2017/18. There is no General Fund impact.
