Adopt a proclamation which designates January 2017 as "Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month" in Shasta County. |

It is recommended that the Board adopt a proclamation which will be presented to the Shasta County District Attorney's Office designating January 2017 as "Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month" in Shasta County. This proclamation is one of the activities sponsored by the District Attorney's Office designed to highlight the needs and rights of human trafficking victims. |

Beginning in January 2011, Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention month has been recognized nationally. This month provides an opportunity for our community to focus awareness and prevention efforts related to human trafficking victims. The Board of Supervisors proclamation will show their support in recognizing the need for further support and resources for victims in Shasta County. |

The alternative is not approving the proclamation, in which case the District Attorney's Office will not include the proclamation in the activities of Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. |
