RECOMMENDATION

Accept the bid and award the purchase of a new boat and trailer to Rogue Jet Boatworks for the total purchase price of $79,998 (including sales tax and delivery) for the Sheriff's Office Boating Safety Program. (Page 181)

DISCUSSION

On September 13, 2016 the Board of Supervisors accepted a grant from the California Department of Parks and Recreation, Division of Boating and Waterways in the amount of $80,000 to purchase a new boat and trailer.  The Board also authorized the Shasta County Purchasing Division to issue a Request for bid and/or other appropriate competitive procurement process for a new boat and trailer.  The procurement procedure has been completed; nine letters of bid invitations were sent as well as posting the bid on Shasta County Purchasing's Competitive Procurement website and only one bid was submitted.  It is recommended that the Board award the purchase of a new boat and trailer to Rogue Jet Boatworks in the amount of $79,998.

ALTERNATIVES

The Board may choose to not accept this bid or may request additional information from staff.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT

The Shasta County Purchasing Department has completed the procurement process in conjunction with Sheriff staff.  The County Administrative Office has reviewed the recommendation.

FINANCING

The expenditures and revenues for the purchase are included in the department’s FY 16/17 adjusted budget.  There is no additional General Fund impact from the recommended action.
