DISCUSSION

On August 23, 2016, Northwest Paving, Inc., was awarded the contract for construction on the Various Permanent Road Divisions (PRD) (2016) and County Road Chip Seals. This project included chipseals along the following County roads: Big Bend Road, Boyle Road, Cassel Road, Dersch Road, Gas Point Road, Happy Valley Road, Iron Mountain Road, Keswick Dam Road, Lower Springs Road, Oak Run Road, Palm Avenue, Whitmore Road and Wonderland Boulevard. It also included work on the following PRDs: Aiden Park, Blackstone Estates, Diamond Ridge Estates, East Stillwater Way, Logan Road, Los Palos Drive EFER, Manton Heights, Rolland Country Estates, Santa Barbara Estates, Shasta Lake Ranchos, Ski Way, Sonora Trail and Waterleaf Lane PRDs. It is projected that the work on this project will be completed by the end of October 2016.

ALTERNATIVES

The Board may decline to file a Notice of Completion. The lien period would extend for 90 days instead of 30 days. Final payment to the contractor would be delayed by 60 days.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT

The recommendation has been reviewed by the County Administrative Office.
FINANCING

The total cost of this project, including engineering and contingencies, is estimated to be $1,300,000. Adequate funds were included in the Adopted FY 2016/17 budgets for Roads and the various PRDs. The General Fund participated in funding those portions of the project which were along County-maintained roads ($1,000,000). There is no additional General Fund impact.
